Open the UK Gambling Commission's public register of businesses, search the casino's domain name, then read the account name and licence status.

Step 4Match the account name and domain status
Step 5Read the licence status and regulatory actions

A casino footer may carry the words Gambling Commission and a small crest, usually meaning the UK regulator. The crest proves nothing on its own. The UK Gambling Commission publishes a public register you can search in a minute, and the badge is only as good as the row you find there.

Work through the five steps below with the address you play on. When you finish, also run that address through the lists on the lists on the PAGCOR gaming site, since a UK entry and a Philippine one answer different questions.

The steps to check a UK Gambling Commission badge on the register

  1. Find the badge and note the exact address. Read the words beside the badge and copy the address from your browser bar.
  2. Open the register from the regulator’s own site. Type gamblingcommission.gov.uk yourself, go to Public Register, then Businesses, and never use the link inside the badge.
  3. Search by domain name. The search box accepts business name, trading name, domain name or account number.
  4. Match the account name and domain status. Open the record, read the legal account name and check your domain is listed with a status of Active.
  5. Read the licence status and regulatory actions. Confirm the licence status is Active, then read any regulatory actions shown against the business.

If step three returns no record, the badge has not been confirmed by the register and you should stop before depositing.

What the register’s fields tell you

The register’s own description lists the fields it holds. Knowing them tells you what each part of a record answers.

FieldWhat it tells you
Account numberThe unique reference of the business
Account nameThe legal name of the gambling business
Licence statusWhether the licence is active or has ended another way
Domain name countHow many domain names the business declared
Domain name statusActive, Inactive or White label
Regulatory actionsSanctions or settlements imposed by the Commission

The register records 2,634 records on the businesses page read on 2 October 2026, last updated that day. The Commission also notes that domain and trading names are provided by the gambling business and that it cannot guarantee the accuracy of information provided by third parties.

Reading the licence status

The status line carries the answer to whether a licence is working today. The register defines each value.

StatusMeaning on the register
ActiveLicence is active and up to date
PendingA new licence has been applied for or is being varied and is not yet active
SuspendedSuspended by the Commission pending investigation
RevokedRevoked as a result of regulatory action or breach of licence conditions
SurrenderedGiven up by the business as no longer required
ExpiredThe licensee did not apply for a new operating licence after the old one ended

Only Active means the licence is in force. Treat every other value as a reason to ask the casino for an explanation in writing before you play.

What a registered domain does and does not show

A domain match shows that a licensed business declared that address to the Commission. It does not show that the same business runs the site you are on today, so compare the account name with the company named in the casino’s terms.

It also does not replace the check for Philippine play. Players in the Philippines should find the address on PAGCOR’s lists as well. The page on what a CEZA claim covers covers another badge that is often confused with a licence.

Problem and fix:

  1. Problem: the domain is missing from the register. Fix: ask the casino which licensed business operates the domain and search that business name.
  2. Problem: the account name differs from the casino’s company. Fix: read the casino’s terms for the operating company and compare both names.
  3. Problem: the status is not Active. Fix: do not deposit until the casino explains the status in writing.

Footers that show a regulator crest often show a testing-lab seal next to it. That seal has its own owner and its own way to confirm it, covered in what an eCOGRA seal certifies. Check each badge on its owner’s site, one at a time.

  1. Regulator crest: search the register as above.
  2. Testing-lab seal: confirm with the lab, not the badge.
  3. Zone authority name: confirm with the zone authority and the PAGCOR lists.
